I don't use LaTeX much anymore. But when I did, I mostly used Lyx instead. It is a what-you-see-is-what-you-mean document processor, which uses LaTeX as its back-end. Just wanted to mention that in case they don't like editing everything in a text editor. (*) James (*) In my case VIM. I never warmed up to Emacs.
