Fischer

My paternal grandmother, Margaret (née Fischer) Blaheta, came to this country as a young child in the 1924 along with her mother and six siblings, to join her father in Chicago. (Her youngest brother (Bill) was born there.) She herself was born in Bonn, and that's where I thought the family itself was from, but it seems that some of her siblings were born elsewhere in Germany (Köln?).

All of my father's generation grew up in Chicago, and although my father was a Blaheta, he hung out more with the other Fischers. As they grew up and got married, most of them moved away, so most of my generation and later grew up outside the city itself (but within the suburbs).
